Welcome to an Awesome Life

If you love coffee and food, and appreciate dry humour and childish antics then we're off to a good start. If you are interested traveling, DIY, home remedies, and random nonsense to you I say: Welcome :-) And I suggest you start by reading About Me to see if you'll want to punch me or not before continuing. I hope you enjoy!

Day 06: Last 6 Things I Pinned

1) This gorgeous ensemble. So classy.

2) A multi-tiered oven rack. Worth investigating the science behind how it will actually affect the end result of my concoctions. Anyone encountered these before? Thoughts?

3) This:

4) Check out the 4th photo down. A classy (and useful!) way to be sarcastic. What's not to love?

 5) Pretty much sums up my feelings:

6) This cute door knocker:

What "pinteresting" things have you found recently?

Day 05: Something That Scares Me

Actually, I'll take another 10 martinis. Better send me some tequila shots too just to be safe.

Flying - I never used to be so afraid of it. I'm not quite sure when or why it came to be, but if I'm going to be flying, I can't sleep for days before hand. I get so nervous that it completely and utterly exhausts me. Even Gravol doesn't work to knock me out. It's to out of control that I can't even sleep if I know that Mike is flying (which is a lot). I have friends who have gone on to be pilots, I don't know anyone who has been in a plane crash, and I understand that flying is much safer than driving - I just haven't found a way to convince myself that I don't need to stress out so much. It is quite problematic considering that I'd like to make traveling a part of my career. Hmmm... perhaps it's time to figure out how to fix this ridiculousness?

What about you - are you afraid of flying? Is there anything you have done to try to overcome it?

Stay tuned for tomorrow when I share my 6 most recent Pins.

Day 04: Books I Am Currently Reading

I usually have a couple of different books on the go at a time and right now is no exception: I've got one on the go for personal enjoyment and one on the go for personal development. Take a peek:

1) Life of Pi by Yann Martel. This is the second or third time I have read this book over the years. It's one of my most favourites, obviously. The main character's family owned a zoo when he was a kid, can you imagine? I would have given pretty much anything as a child to have been raised on a zoo. Fact!

Ian Hoolihan.

2) Think Big by Ben Carson, M.D. with Cecil Murphey. I tried to read this one before but I just found it way too repetitive and gimmicky. However,  due to a recent course I took (speed reading!), I decided to give it another go. This time around has been much easier on the eyes and brain as it's written in a way that is perfect for speed reading.
This one is for personal development.

Have you ever read either of these books? What did you think of them?

Day 03: Something I Ate Today

I remembered to take photos of what I ate throughout the day yesterday, but I completely forgot to post about it. Oops :-S

So, without further delay, I present to you Something I Ate Today (which was really yesterday)

Pierogi from A Taste of Russia at the local farmers market. They're a Saturday staple in our home.
Fresh mini-donuts (topped with cinnamon sugar and icing sugar), also from the Farmer's Market.
Ginormous Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. No really. It was MASSIVE.

Okay... I know that I shared more than one thing, but these are all too good not to share! Seriously!

What was something you ate today?

Day 02: Current Song Obsessions

I knew that I couldn't just pick one song because I like way too many genres and artists to ever narrow it down that far. Instead, I will list all of the songs that I've been gravitating toward recently.

WARNING: Where available, these are the explicit versions. If that will end up offending you, DO NOT CLICK THE LINKS. Otherwise, enjoy :-)

Always Look on The Bright Side of Life - Monty Python.
Whenever I am feeling grumpy, I put this on. There is nothing about this song that won't cheer a curmudgeon up. Go on, give it a go!

Why Stop Now - Busta Rhymes featuring Chris Brown.
So, Breezy may look a little cracked out in this video but, damn, that boy can move. And Busta? Well, he is just beyond amazing. The beat, the lyrics, the video are all perfect for when I'm feeling rowdy. Which is nothing unusual... (the poor tenants downstairs!).

Outta My Mind - B.o.B featuring Nicki Minaj.
Amazing beat, lyrics and video. I feel the same about this song as I do about Why Stop Now. Honestly. I can't get enough.

HOV Lane - Nicki Minaj.
This song is perfect for pumping in the car. And I do. Every time I'm out.

Back in Time - Pitbull.
It's all just so good! And I can't help myself but to pretend I'm dancing on a log when I hear the Dirty Dancing bits (I realize it's not the same song, but I care not). Gets me in a dancing mood! Not that I generally need help with that...

Forever (Travis Barker Remix) - Drake featuring Eminem, Kanye West & Lil Wayne.
Just watch Travis Barker kick the shit out of those drums. No, seriously. Watch him. That man is the drum God. This one isn't so much a recent one, as it is a permanent fixture in my life. It never gets old. Ever.

Alright, I think that's a pretty good list of the songs that fill my brain these days. What about you? What songs speak to you?

Day 01: Three Inspirational Quotes

We could all use some inspiration, so I thought it would be appropriate to start off my challenge with some words of encouragement. Time to raid my Pinterest!

I need to listen to this one. Captain Excuses over here.

A major reason why I decided to do this "challenge".

I'll be sure not to overlook the small things :-)

Okay, it's off to bed for this girl. That was a long day of hard decisions (yes, I'm talking about making my list for this challenge). See you tomorrow!

30 Days Hath November

I stole this idea right out from under the nose Désirée over at So Fawned. I have known Désirée for most of my life, having met as children in elementary school where teachers always called us by each others names. Gone are the days of pretending the giant tires in the school yard were our horses (don't ask), and I don't even remember the last time we spoke in person (for shame!!), but one thing is for certain: this chick is a gem. Honestly, go check out her blog and you'll see why I say so!

Anyway, back to the point of my post: 30 Days Hath November. For each day of November, I will use this list to inspire a new blog entry. This is good for me. It will challenge me, open my mind to new ideas, learn more about myself. I used her list as a guideline, adding, removing and tweaking some of the topics to better suit myself. Here is what I have decided to include in my own 30 Days challenge:
